WHAT WILL I CREATE NEXT?

I will return for my 8th season of 'Galen's Workshop' on YouTube!

Over the course of 13 episodes, I will paint and create over 15 art projects.

I will be performing Redemption Challenges (where I return to previous challenges from older seasons), Double-Creation Rounds, Viewer Art Challenges, and No-Canvas Challenges. This season will feature a new subject or theme each week. Filmed over a 3 week period during the wild 2024 ice storm that struck Vancouver and Portland, prepare for twists and turns along the way...

"Tangled Web"

As we get tangled in the metaphorical web of life, crawling our way out of deceit and lies to a much more hopeful life. This was painted and drawn as the canvas spun in circles!

"Letting Go"

Visually this shows the process of breaking free from the tangled web of deceit and abuse through movement. Painted with acrylics as the canvas spun in circles.

"Everything Changes"

Made with acrylic, spray paint, plastic cut outs, velcro, and bubble wrap.

"Happy Alien Invasion"

One of my favorite exotic plants! They look like adorable little aliens. I painted this on a sheet of protective plastic, with acrylic only!

St. John's Bridge

Located in West Portland, OR, this bridge has a beautiful park below it, and this is where my friends and I would meet up between classes at the Art Institute of Portland. I decided to choose this as my subject, and drew this with pencil, before shadowing and detailing with charcoal. This was one of the first projects of the season without the use of paint!

Blindfolded Redemption

I took on a challenge from season 3 where I was tasked to paint a self portrait blindfolded! This time, I wanted to learn from my mistakes and introduce collage to the challenge, where I layered multiple cut outs from magazines. This artwork reflects the broken and exhausted state my soul was feeling at the time.

The Sorcerer's Realm

Drawn with pen and marker, with a background featuring collaged textures and colors, this artwork tells the story of a powerful sorcerer recognizing his own power and accepting it.

Down The Rabbit Hole

Drawn with colored markers, this artwork is inspired by Alice in Wonderland, and directly connects to the world created in 'The Sorcerer's Realm" and will be featured in a few other projects this season.
